Supplementary lens after Cataract surgery
Posted by Dr. LEONARD YUEN on July 21, 2015
The outcomes of implantation of a piggyback Toric intraocular lens (IOL) with high residual postoperative astigmatism are reported. This is the first report of such a procedure in Hong Kong and China. Both patients achieved a significant improvement in vision and level of satisfaction. There was a large reduction in astigmatism and anisometropic symptoms. A sulcus-placed supplementary toric IOL is a safe and effective alternative for patients with significant postoperative astigmatism, giving surgeons a valuable additional tool in the pursuit of achieving the best visual acuity for patients.
