I have a history of back problems, and recently my knee had become painful so I took an apt with Dr. Mouellic. I waited a at least half an hour in the waiting room, and then got to see him. My impression was that he was pressed for time. He did not review my alignment at all. Listened to my description of my knee pain. Had me lie down - and moved my leg a bit. Said I needed to strengthen my quad (stationery bike for 30 min/day) and that would solve the problem. SO I did. Knee pain remained. I finally visited another osteopath 6 months later when traveling who recommended I see an orthopedic surgeon to rule out the possibility that a minor surgery of the meniscus wasn't what was needed. So I did, and of course that was the problem all along - had surgery and all is well now. The main problem I had with Mouellic was his cursory exam, but I also found his attitude arrogant.

I had never heard of an osteopath before seeing Dr Moulliec. He is great with my son, who was born with suspected talipes. At six weeks old a physiotherapist at Duchess of Kent children's hospital told me his foot was fine. Cue eight years later... my eight-year old sons skeleton is misaligned with one flat food, tendinitis, knee and hip pain, back pain and learning difficulties. In one session Dr Moulliec fixed my son's slipped vertebrae and tendinitis, realigned his hip and worked on the suboccuiphal compression in his neck. My son is still receiving treatment approximately every six weeks, but is going from strength to strength. He has more energy and is now finding learning far easier.

Osteopathic medicine is a complete system of health care with a philosophy that combines the needs of the patient with the current practice of medicine. Doctors of osteopathic medicine (DOs) practice a whole-person approach, which means they consider both the physical and mental needs of their patients. This "holistic" approach to health care was developed by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, who feared that 19th-century medicine was doing more harm than good. Disgusted at the ineffectiveness of fellow practitioners during the Civil War, he decided to focus on the body's ability to heal itself and began to stress preventive medicine. He also identified the musculoskeletal system as a key element of health, stressing that muscles, nerves, bones, and organs are all interrelated. A key part of osteopathic medicine is a technique called OMT, or osteopathic manipulative treatment. OMT allows physicians to use their hands as a primary tool to diagnose and treat illness and injury. This form of manual medicine lets DOs examine the back and other parts of the body, such as joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles, for pain and restriction during motion that could signal an injury or impaired function. Although they sometimes focus on the back, these physicians are not chiropractors. OMT is a treatment very specific to how and where humans injure themselves and how that injury can manifest itself as symptoms.
